Valentine's Day and Fantasy Football Discussion
Speaker 1Hi everybody, welcome to episode 21 of the MC squared podcast, the special Valentine edition. I'm Andrew McNeil, joined by my, with my co-host, jimmy McCanna, and we've got a special, we've got a special show for you today. All right, welcome back everybody. Yeah, so on today's episode, we are joined by our spouses once again. This is Andrea Allison. I think this is the second time. Second time we've done this, so it went so well last time that we we had to bring them back.
Speaker 3So we'll see how that goes very true?
Speaker 1Anyway, this is gonna be released right before Valentine's Day, so happy Valentine's Day this is my gift for you.
Speaker 3Um, don't say I didn't get you anything.
Speaker 1Yep, jimmy, do you get? Do you get anything special for Allison on Valentine's Day?
Speaker 2Oh, wow, yeah, usually Usually I do we don't do like a real, we don't get real crazy on Valentine's Day.
Speaker 1Okay. But yeah, I mean it's kind of nice to spend a little bit of time together, you know yeah, with having kids just like a like Silence for a little bit.
Speaker 3So we have a little, we have that planned.
Speaker 2I think I took the day off work. Oh, did you?
Speaker 1really yeah, I mean that's, that's for.
Speaker 2Valentine's Day yeah, kind of went high.
Speaker 1Wow, oh, I'll show for this year.
Speaker 2I feel terrible. I haven't taken a day off work for like since Christmas. So, yeah, well, that's a good day to do it. It is, and there was nothing in my schedule too, but that's not the reason. It's because I wanted to have absolutely.
Speaker 3Yes, that's, that's very sweet, you do something special.
Speaker 2Yeah, so I think we're gonna go get some coffee at Java Ho Fantastic, great place and then in the afternoon we have somebody who's gonna come into town what a Lauren's disc golf sponsors and we're gonna play disc golf.
Speaker 4So, we got it.
Speaker 2You're kind of the way in and out here.
Speaker 1Yeah that's awesome.
Speaker 2I'm winning in the morning, losing in the afternoon.
Speaker 1Hopefully the weather's good right. Yeah yeah, never know this time of year in Indiana.
Speaker 2So this time you can tell that the ladies, and including the gents, we are not wearing headphones and that was kind of a source of contention last time. Yeah, a little bit just the size, what it did your hair, andrew, and I really go back and forth with this every. Yeah after every episode we talk about it, but we're going headphoneless, so we are 100% relying on drew ski back there to make sure that our sound sounds good.
Speaker 2So Thank goodness for no headphones, I know think I guess so, so you can see more of our ears.
Speaker 1So a lot of folks have asked how you know how the whole fantasy football thing went, and you know we talked about this already. We've already we already finalized that. You know Andrea won, my wife won and all this kind of. So we already talked about this, but they Never with them here, never with them present on the podcast, and I feel like you have something you want to say. You nothing.
Speaker 3Well, I was gonna just let you're gonna have to talk.
Speaker 1You're gonna have to talk.
Speaker 3This was this doesn't feel as natural as I thought it was going to.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah yeah, it's always works out really good in your mind and then you get Can you tell us.
Speaker 2Can you give us a little bit insight into your strategy?
Speaker 3Oh yeah, weekly strategy for winning In front of you again.
Speaker 2I mean, are you watching the network?
Speaker 3No, I'm not gonna get let down that road. I was just gonna bring up how it's hard to be a a woman in a man's fantasy football world, because when you win you don't really get properly recognized in fact, people make fun of you.
Speaker 2No, it's not usually.
Speaker 3I'm gonna play again next year and I'm gonna, I'm gonna prove that I can win and it's not, I'm gonna countless do it twice really. That's why.
Speaker 2I'm saying this golf doesn't countless. You do it twice.
Speaker 4Oh.
Speaker 2Oh, I'll really long putt.
Speaker 4I'll prove it again next time.
Speaker 2I'll just go over this thing, you gotta do it twice for it to count.
Speaker 3I feel like my home shouldn't be in the Super Bowl because you let me down. You let me down in the fantasy football time really bad, and I didn't think they get this far and my in my mind he just yeah, I started benching him because he played so bad, did you let him?
Speaker 2know, that.
Speaker 4I wish.
Speaker 2Now McCaffrey should be there yeah because he was younger fantasy team yes, he was a winner.
Speaker 3Now, that's kind of all the way.
Speaker 2See what I mean look well, I mean, I'm not sure how you got that.
Speaker 3No, it was fun. I didn't want to play, andrew forced me and then I decided I might as well play to win yeah that's what happened.
Speaker 2Who beat you? Did anybody beat you at all?
Speaker 3Well yeah, I got beat you did once in a while. But, I don't know it, just Daniel or drew beat me a lot.
Speaker 2Oh yeah.
Speaker 4Andrew, never beat me, ever. Yeah, you make sure of that.
Speaker 3I'm Allison was the first one to beat me pig skin princess. He's the first time and I thought this. This is not gonna happen again.
Speaker 2I'm going to have to take this seriously?
Speaker 3Well, that's what happened.
Speaker 2So for the Thursday night game. We really sat down and analyzed her team and stacked it to beat you.
Speaker 3So Thursday night, the first time the Thursday- night thing is when you get the team. It was fun.
Speaker 2It was fun.
Speaker 1Anyway, it was fun yeah also, we've not heard any of your comments with us Did you know, I really had very little to do with my fantasy football. Is this is this full disclosure?
Speaker 3Your kids did good your kids did and yeah, and Zach did really good, but Congratulations, andrew, yeah. Yeah, thank you Another woman, so you can say that there are men who haven't been able to say that.
Speaker 1Thanks for Super Bowl oh 40, 49ers in the chiefs, not the, not the chiefs.
Speaker 2Absolutely 49ers Yep 49ers.
Speaker 1Yeah, I'm going with the 49ers who does McCaffrey play for Exactly?
Speaker 3Honor team holder?
Speaker 2He's on the chiefs right, no, no, he's not.
Speaker 3He's on the 49ers, your other person on the team.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's the team. Now, the wealth of knowledge is coming forth.
Speaker 1A little bit of pushing below the surface and you see the wealth of football knowledge. That's. It's my, it's my stellar analytics.
Speaker 2Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3So anyway uh 49ers.
Speaker 2Oh, I like Brock Purdy 49ers. How did you Nothing to nothing to Allison Amazing.
Speaker 4I guess I want the 49ers, I think the, I think Kansas City will win.
Speaker 1You think Taylor Swift's going to win? Oh please, I think so.
Speaker 4Yeah, people want to, I feel like she wins when they win.
Speaker 2So that's why I don't know.
Speaker 1Well, they asked uh, did you see this? They asked uh, travis Kelsey today? Uh, it might have been yesterday. No, uh, super Bowl. You know the press conferences that they do. They asked him why do you think everybody is so obsessed with you and Taylor Swift? And he just said because everybody is just loves our values.
Speaker 2Oh, wow.
Speaker 1Okay, I'm thinking, is this the Pfizer double shot guy? I think he is. Yeah, that's his commercial and the also behind Joe Biden. Yeah, exactly, so there's, they're setting this up for a psychop.
Speaker 3This is.
Speaker 1This is where it's going. There's going to be some kind of an endorsement of Joe Biden after after Taylor Swift wins the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2I mean, the endorsement will come with a head injury. Yeah, yeah, well, this is crazy.
Speaker 1So, speaking of politics, because we do get into this today, did you guys see, um, where, uh, it was late. It was late this afternoon where the uh Department of Justice decided that Joe Biden had illegally taken top secret documents, he had stored them illegally at 18 or so whatever, but they they concluded that he was not mentally capable at this time of committing a crime, not because his intentions, but that mentally he's not there. This is the in the official document that they released, which is grounds for the 25th amendment to remove him as president, because I mean that's pretty scary Now. I think they thought they were getting off. You know, hey, this is, you know, it's just old Joe, you know whatever it is, but I mean that was their literal legal reason is he's not mentally competent to be prosecuted for a crime.
Speaker 2I hate to be kind of dark about this, but in saying that, is this going to be the lead-in for Michelle Obama to run his place Right?
Speaker 1I don't put anything past. I know, I know, or whoever it would be.
Speaker 2I mean, I don't know who else it would be, but I'm just saying that it looks like they call him that, but this would lead right nice, into that when it comes into a few years, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1And then the second thing that's going on today and I again, so I'm talking about this is the problem with talking about news a little bit is that, by the time this video is released, some of this stuff's old news yeah, but they are arguing before the Supreme Court on whether Trump can be removed from, about the state ballots or not.
Speaker 1That is actually arguments going on right now, and so Clarence Thomas has asked questions, kavanaugh has asked questions and Gorsuch has asked questions, and they have eviscerated the lawyers for Joe Biden. I mean eviscerated like it's, oh, and the left wing side of the court has also been extremely skeptical skeptical of their case. So it actually does not look good. It should be. It may actually be a unanimous decision just because the court is wanting. I mean, this is about removing a political candidate, and the false charges that the, or the charges that they're going there in front of the Supreme Court, are that he was convicted in an insurrection. Never and Kavanaugh goes he wasn't even charged with an insurrection, let alone convicted. So doesn't look good and it's really an embarrassment.
Speaker 2Why is this even getting to that? Exactly, exactly. Well anyway, let's do something a little bit lighter yeah.
Speaker 1So well, I guess by the by the time this airs. So tomorrow we recorded this obviously a little bit before by the time this airs we will know the full slate of candidates in Indiana. So tomorrow. So we're recording this on a Thursday evening. Tomorrow at noon is the cutoff time. That's right. So we've got. I mean it's. It is actually crazy. So we won't probably talk about the candidates tonight, but we'll kind of go over it, I think in the next podcast I think we should talk about. You know who's running? I think there's six so far in the congressional district here and six or so yeah.
Speaker 1And and crazy thing, Victoria Sparts, I will mention this she had said she wasn't going to run for reelection Congresswoman up North Republican, and so there were about I don't know maybe nine other Republicans that jumped in and you know they're running their campaigns, they're filing, and then last week at the last minute she says you know what, I think I am going to run again. And so she has filed to run the incumbent running again and just a complete disaster. I've actually never heard of anything like that before. So crazy Indiana politics, yeah.
Speaker 2Hey, welcome back. We have a cool little gamey thing. We're going to play Andrea's idea. We're going to play with our wives, since this is.
Speaker 1This is embarrassing.
Speaker 2Yes, but it this is Valentine's Day, the Valentine's Day episode, so we're going to. It's the addition also, so we're going to actually ask questions and see if our spouse knows we're going to ask you questions first, and then we're going to ask you questions.
Speaker 3Yeah, okay, so let's start.
Speaker 2We'll let. We'll let the ladies start First, gentleman Second you want to start.
Speaker 4Okay.
Speaker 2Yes, first one yes.
Speaker 4Tacos or pizza.
Speaker 2Tacos Easy peasy, you're right.
Speaker 3Okay, oh wow. Tacos or pizza.
Speaker 2Taco pizza.
Speaker 4Pizza.
Speaker 3Oh, no, next question. Next question.
Speaker 4What is my favorite ice cream flavor? Oh, why?
Speaker 1I was answering for me. Andrew doesn't understand this game. It's fine, sorry, I apologize.
Speaker 2That was me. Oh, that's okay, yeah, oh, okay, yeah, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay Okay, cookie dough, no Dang it.
Speaker 1I know it's not mint.
Speaker 2I just know it's not mint the stashio, oh dang it. We didn't get it very often.
Speaker 3Oh, my favorite kind of ice cream, yeah, I totally messed that up.
Speaker 1So yeah, I would have guessed tacos in there first.
Speaker 3Okay, well, it's too late.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's ice cream. Okay, so what's?
Speaker 3the question. My favorite kind of ice cream.
Speaker 1Well I can say, but they don't make it anymore. Say it Okay, it's like chocolate marshmallow.
Speaker 3There you go, very good.
Speaker 1Good job. I don't even think they make it anymore. My grandpa got it for me, Okay very good Andrew.
Speaker 3Okay, andrew this is a silly one for you to answer. It needs to be a harder one, Okay. Well, we'll just do this one first. Who liked who first?
Speaker 1You liked me first.
Speaker 3Yes, I did, I'm not sure why.
Speaker 1I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding, I would like you again, over and over again.
Speaker 2Oh, that's sweet. Yes, okay, make it real out of that.
Speaker 4Yes, who liked who first?
Speaker 2Oh, I liked you. How long did you like her?
Speaker 3How long did you like her first, Jimmy?
Speaker 2About six hours. And then she liked you that fast? No, I don't think she took longer than that, for like me.
Speaker 3That's my. I would mean how long oh?
Speaker 2I don't know how to get the question, so how?
Speaker 4Through those ER doors. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2Pretty much it Were you in your scrubs, yeah, oh man, I was in like some magic scrubs. Oh, back in the day, when I had scrubs, I thought I was tough stuff. Right, I was kind of like the age of your sons and my son. I was on the. This is kind of embarrassing, but I put my, I had my scrubs on. We're kind of we're at Clinton ER right, Kind of bored, and there used to be a website called hot or notcom. Oh God, you remember this?
Speaker 3Yeah, so stupid. Who are you on the website? Oh yeah.
Speaker 2What With my little spiky hair I had hair.
Speaker 3Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2Spiky hair, kind of greasy looking, my scrubs on. I was sitting in front of a defibrillator, like the thing you shop people with, like this, lean it back Hot or notcom. It was like that swipe, last swipe, right before it got that, I thought I was cool. But Did she swipe? No? No, I mean Allison was way out of my league. Like that league is like really low, like I was really low league then, but no, I shot way out of my league with Allison and yeah, that is too funny.
Speaker 3So how long did it take you to like him back?
Speaker 4Well, he didn't. He didn't tell me he didn't, I didn't have any idea. I didn't have any idea. And so it was a whole arranged thing. One of the nurses from his department called and said could you bring me some applesauce? And he was in the room with applesauce and I said oh, here you're going back downstairs. Take this applesauce, he's away in a minute.
Speaker 3So it's a whole arranged thing.
Speaker 4But then no, I liked him right away.
Speaker 2Well, who doesn't like Jimmy? I was going to ask her out. I was going to ask her out, right? So she handed the applesauce and she started walking away. And it was one of those situations in life where somebody is walking away and you feel like you're on the precipice of something and I just kind of blurted out hey, do you want to go out sometime? When she was walking the other direction.
Speaker 2She would have taken like two steps around the corner and it was like okay, so take advantage of opportunities like this, kids, like if you feel like you're at a precipice and you're like you're feeling led to like, do this, just just do it.
Speaker 3I mean because.
Speaker 2I mean, you don't, you don't know what's behind that, and I could have waited two more seconds and then been totally embarrassed and never done it.
Speaker 3Yep.
Speaker 2So I would have taken two steps around the corner and I would have done it and been like, well, I didn't do it, I'm not. Then I felt like insecure and you know like but it was just that one thing, it's almost like, almost, it's like came out of me.
Speaker 4Funny thing though, we went on our first date. I went back to work because you know, we met at work. He was working as an EMT and the ER and I was a nurse and I went back to work and everybody was like, oh, how'd it go, you know? And I said oh, it was really, it was nice, he was really nice. I don't think he's going to ask me out again.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 4And they were like why? And I said, oh he's, I'm not his type. He talked a lot about like outdoor stuff and which he does like all that stuff. It wasn't untrue but canoeing and hiking and all of this.
Speaker 3And I'm like no, he wants to type a girl who's going to wake up in the morning and throw her hair in a ponytail and be like let's go on a hike, and that's not me, but he asked me out on a second date and then the rest
Speaker 4was history, and actually the second date. You asked me what my favorite ice cream was. And I said pistachio.
Speaker 3Oh, that was only like almost 20 plus.
Speaker 2Oh, my goodness, I did do it.
Speaker 3I was good.
Speaker 2I thought for sure you would remember that that was my favorite ice cream Guys when you start, when you go that far out of your league, you got to start pulling out every stop. You got to be on the top of your head.
Speaker 2You just kind of randomly ask go with your ice cream. And then the next time you see her like, oh, here's your ice cream. Oh, I mean you have to throw down stuff. It was, it was. There you go. She's the only I'm not saying the only, but she wrote in my Jeep Wrangler lifted no top. That's how I picked her up for her first day from Clinton driving all the way down the outback.
Speaker 3Was your hair mess? Yeah, but here's the thing.
Speaker 2Any other person or girl whoever rode in that car thought it was the coolest car in the world.
Speaker 4And she was just like oh yeah, this is fine this is fine, Cause it was really stiff and I was like oh, I mean and then we took my car later.
Speaker 2Find out. She really didn't like the top down.
Speaker 3Right, I'll lay down, but she liked you, and that's all that mattered. I did.
Speaker 2I liked there you go I liked.
Speaker 1That's a great story. That's sweeter than ours, it's not as sweet.
Speaker 3You don't have to tell it it's too long.
Speaker 1Well, we're getting ready to celebrate 30 years of marriage.
Speaker 3We already had our questions, so it's over now.
Speaker 1We're gonna celebrate 30 years of marriage. That's awesome and, and looking back, it still is slightly embarrassing how we got together for you for mostly for me. Well, it sort of is. So you knew the first time you saw me, that, yep, that I was. I was the one I.
Speaker 3Knew the moment I laid eyes on you Wow, I called you my future husband for a year and a half.
Speaker 1Yeah, so everybody I knew she, she wasn't a stalker. Honestly, you're the one of the best things ever happened to me and I Was probably close to missing it just from being stubborn. But I was close to missing a lot of good things in my life because of resistance to God's will for me. That's right. So I was a Christian, but you can be a Christian and still live your own way. That makes sense. And I had a lot of things I was doing and I thought was a good idea again, yeah, you did too, but God put us together and I I desperately just same as you. We had the same heart, which is pretty funny. My brother David it was three years younger than me. He just thought mostly me that I was ridiculous because he's he was like you guys hear each other talk. You both want the same things. What, what is?
Speaker 4what is.
Speaker 1So I had a kind of an unrelated, just you know, just kind of a wrestle with the Lord one night and after that time, where I just yielded everything to the Lord, it wasn't too long after that, a couple of weeks, and we were so, yeah, kind of chatting again and Our, our story is not that romantic because I just, I don't know, I was a little immature made a business deal.
Communication and Intentionality in Marriage
Speaker 1Yeah, I was, and we've done this a lot and see, the thing is the way we were. It was kind of like Two in the morning at our parents house and we were just talking and just kind of talked into this Elephant in the room, which was that everybody thought we should get together. It's been going on for a while and I said, and you know, I'm starting to think, I think that's, I think it's true, I think we should, and that was that was about the last thing I said, and she was crying and I was Shocked and stunned that I came out of my mouth. But also, but also I knew it was, it was true and it was, it was awesome. Actually, from that point on, it was just really wonderful stuff.
Speaker 2So 30 years this year 30 years were 20 years.
Speaker 1We're 20 years in June. Yeah, those are 30 years.
Speaker 2That's awesome. Bye, bye.
Speaker 1So so, two lessons for two, two lessons for marriage, for successful marriage.
Speaker 3To two things we have to do that, why not? We didn't ask the final question?
Speaker 2Okay, well, yeah. We know we didn't ask the question for them.
Speaker 3Yeah, we have to ask questions, okay, yeah okay.
Speaker 2Nope absolutely so I'll ask Alison a question. So If I was fishing? Okay, yeah, if I was fishing and I can pick one fish To catch, oh my god what type of fish would it be? Oh?
Speaker 4I feel like I've heard this.
Speaker 3What's the one fish that?
Speaker 4I'm really excited about catching Muskie.
Speaker 2Yes, that's correct.
Speaker 4Is it really Really?
Speaker 3He's lying. No, it's not Muskie would be really cool.
Speaker 1Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, it's a smallmouth bass.
Speaker 2No, but I love catching. Tarpen is my dream fish never caught.
Speaker 4Tarpen.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm a fly rod. Okay, that was a tough question If you had to catch a fish.
Speaker 1What would it be? It's your question.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 4If I could catch any fish, swordfish okay.
Speaker 2Sounds great.
Speaker 3We use the same question.
Speaker 1I mean I can, but I feel, I feel like, I feel like you're obsessed with me the question ask and I feel like you know. Everything about me.
Speaker 3So okay, don't make me look bad what's?
Speaker 1what's my favorite sports team? What? The New England Patriots yeah, okay, yes, that's easy.
Speaker 3I could answer that in my sleep. Cubs, that's all you can come up with. I've redeemed myself. What's my favorite? How about a few? How tall you know what's my favorite food?
Speaker 1steak.
Speaker 3That's the answer in your mind. Yeah, I know what was your answer that's it, I guess that.
Speaker 2I love food.
Speaker 3If you had to eat something for the rest of your life. What would it be? The same thing.
Speaker 4I feel, like you've said recently, I could eat that every day. For the rest, I.
Speaker 3Listen, and Jim, you're so sweet.
Speaker 4I love it all, I don't care you're gonna get a right answer.
Speaker 3He just likes food Okay don't say like Like sauerkraut's.
Speaker 1Okay, like, so, yeah, okay, so let's, let's go back and do two things that are good for a successful marriage. And let's not, let's leave out the church II answer, the obvious church II answer, which is put Christ first.
Speaker 3Okay, we get that you want so dear, dear. What's that lady you write into her?
Speaker 1dear Abby, dear Abby.
Speaker 3Dear Abby, my husband. Okay, so we have to take this up on the other side of the break, but we got five minutes, so let's just spit it out, okay. Start okay.
Speaker 2Okay, so I think I think communicate everybody says communication, but I think communication when it's difficult is important and what I mean Difficult.
Speaker 1I think communication when it's difficult is important. Yeah, that's what I mean. It's difficult, I think, communication when you don't agree with each other or you're afraid you might hurt their feelings, or it's a controversial issue that maybe one may Is feel strongly about, and I think communication at that point is Very important, because I think what you're actually doing is working out, becoming one and a good team. Yeah, and I think that the trap you can get into sometimes is that when something is controversial or it's gonna be a blow up or there's gonna be whatever, that you keep things buried and even though maybe you have quote peace, the house, you don't have the cohesion of a team. Yep, then that would be, that'd be one thing I would say.
Speaker 4That's good, good advice me next sure we can do two.
Speaker 1well, I did one, you do one, okay, um.
Speaker 3Well, this was something I think we tried to do from the beginning, but to be intentional about Tending to your relationship, like going out on on dates. It doesn't have to be expensive, but being intentional. Intentional about spending time with each other, that's not just like accidental time, and I think I heard that once from your family, your mom, and then also the whole idea of like someday you're gonna be alone in the house again.
Speaker 1So if you don't tend that relationship, we're never gonna be alone in the house again, but if you don't attend, it.
Intentional Dating and Maintaining Relationships
Speaker 3It may seem like forever, but there's gonna be a time where your kids are gone and a lot of times couples drift apart from each other and don't even know each other at that point. So just intentional dating and just taking care of your relationship.
Speaker 3It doesn't have to be fancy or expensive and it can be done, but it's just a good thing to do, cause a lot of times the husband and wife is sort of like the structure and so it sometimes gets thrown in the back burner Like it's just it's there and it's gonna be there and it holds everything up. But it's not. It doesn't get the focus, but really it is what holds everything up.
Speaker 4So it needs to be taken care of yeah. Okay.
Speaker 2So this is kind of tough. So do you want to go first?
Speaker 4Okay, Well, I mean, it's not as deep as Andrea's and Andrew's but, I, mean, I think, just to laugh together. Oh, that's true, Just to have fun together and not to take yourself too seriously. I mean I feel like I have a lot of fun with Jimmy. I don't know why he's laughing right now I do know why.
Speaker 2I know exactly I'm laughing because of her.
Speaker 4Fake fights. Yes, oh God.
Speaker 2You have fake fights. We whisper, scream at each other too.
Speaker 4Oh my gosh it's all pretend it's not real.
Speaker 3We have fake fights. Yeah, our kids are totally used to it. They're not even phased Do you do it to like relieve pressure.
Speaker 4No, it's never serious.
Speaker 2It's never serious. I don't know where we do that. No, if we're yeah.
Speaker 4Cool, yeah, cool. What do you say to that? I don't really want to say that, but I mean, even if you don't have mental problems and have fake fights, you know, just to laugh together to find something that's you know, that you share that's funny to kind of you know, you get to know each other so well that you kind of know.
Speaker 4You know it's kind of like when you're somewhere with somebody that you know so well and you see something funny and you're like I am not looking at you because if I look at you, I'm going to laugh and it's inappropriate to laugh, right now. So I believe that's a good one.
Speaker 2So Tuesday I'm going to give one for marriage, but I'm going to give one for like the young couples dating.
Speaker 1Okay, young couples dating.
Speaker 2When you're going to find your mate, obviously it needs to be absolutely like covered in prayer when you're going to do that, but kind of like what I was saying before the Lord has somebody for you, Go after it, Don't worry about anything else Like league, no league, whatever it will be set up for you, there is a person and so take courage in that. I think and don't feel. I think that one thing that in the dating situation and it's 20 years ago, but I think guys can get really insecure about you know different things, so anyway, but the other thing is, I think, is recognizing one thing that I've had trouble with and I've worked on over the years recognizing, like, the beauty and the differences from people that think differently, maybe have a different perspective than you, because when it all really comes together is when you have kids and because you see this child that comes out and you're like, wow, that's a little bit of me, that's a little bit of her, or this one child.
Victory in Closing Gentlemen's Club
Speaker 2And you're like well, that's like a perfect creation and that's why we were together. And it's not, like this kid is, this person is a clone of Jimmy and every thing that I have is cloned and I think that's perfect. No, like how great is it when you know you come together and you have this child and it's a mixture of both. You're like oh, my goodness, that's like a masterpiece, lord, I mean. And so I think, after you see that, you can step back and look and be like wow, there's so many things that Allison has that I don't, but coming together as parents and lovers, no, we're not.
Speaker 3Oh my gosh.
Speaker 4Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh.
Speaker 3You know what else to say. How old are you? How old are you For Drew, Drew and Salim? It's not a big deal.
Speaker 2We're gonna read the songs and solve them.
Speaker 3Oh gosh, we're gonna make.
Speaker 4For Drew. Drew has left the building I don't know how he cut down.
Speaker 1I don't know what we need to do. Let's just leave it. We're just coming together it's fine.
Speaker 2Not as lovely as.
Speaker 3Pwnip Spouses, life partners How's that? Everybody, probably. I don't think I was mature enough for this conversation.
Speaker 1I think pretty much anybody listening is not gonna be shocked by the husband and wife being lovers.
Speaker 2I know.
Speaker 1It's kind of it's a love holiday it's.
Speaker 3Valentine's Day yeah. So, I'm glad you said it.
Speaker 2Yeah, I have one more time, right, okay, three, two.
Speaker 3You can say that but we're probably not cutting this out. You're blocking me out.
Speaker 2Yeah, how are we gonna put that in? I think it's fine how it is.
Speaker 4Let's go.
Speaker 2And we just laughing to it. Okay, anyway.
Speaker 4Just a final segment.
Speaker 1Anyway, so I just my wife's already done.
Speaker 2I recently heard some news today, which is really exciting.
Speaker 1Okay, okay.
Speaker 2And I'm gonna give a reason why. So, about seven years ago, okay, I was a part of a men's group called Fight Club. We've heard of Fight Club before.
Speaker 3Oh yeah, we know Fight Club.
Speaker 2The MI414 and you get together as a men's club and there was, and you do have these challenges you do every week, you memorize scripture, and some of the challenges that had stretched me the most and caused me really it was after I'd run for office, but I really had like a heart for the city is doing Jericho walks, so doing a walk around, praying around a specific area and you walk around it seven times right.
Speaker 2And so one of the during one of the challenges, like six or seven years ago, I felt called to do a walk around Sixth Avenue, which is the Sixth Avenue bar there close to the hospital, and I remember doing a walk around it and it was during the days I don't know why I was there, thank goodness, but it was in the evening when they went, when nobody was there. But I remember doing the walk and feeling like this real, I don't know, we did another Jericho Walks, but you know when you do that you really feel like when you're praying around something, you know there's something that changes when Christ inside of you moves the atmosphere when you walk through those areas. You know, and and I was so like overwhelmed today when I found out that the system that I work for, you know, bought this, off this and they're closing it down. And huge victory, huge victory, I park right next to it.
Speaker 2And every day when I walk into work I look over at it and I say, someday that will be yours, that's cool, that will be yours, you're going to take that. And I feel like it's one of these things like like one of these, these walls for our city. And I know that some people might not see it that way and they might see it Well, what's the big deal with that? But I feel like that was one of Satan's real kind of hands that he had, especially in that area. I have a heart for that area because it's really it's a a rougher area.
Speaker 2I mean I mean, just be honest, I mean, and those people flood to the hospital. It's like a sanctuary for them and if we want it to be or not, it is, but I just I'm so excited about that happening and it's going to be turned into asphalt. But the one thing I do think we need to be vigilant of is I did find out today that we did buy the property, but somebody else did buy the license to put another establishment like that and somewhere else, somewhere else, and so those licenses, you know, and so it's like a cockroach, they just keep scurry.
Speaker 2Yes, they can't kill and so I mean, I, I really encourage and I know I'm not the only one. I know there's been the tons of Christians that have spent time, have actually ministered inside of there, have ministered around there, and so I think it's a huge victory for the Lord. But then I do think we need to be vigilant and we need to actually take that power that's inside of us and change the city.
Speaker 2And it's not, it's not us, but it's us. It's the next generation, it's the current. You know, it's the church right now. But I do think we need to realize, like the power that comes through what we do as Christians, as Christ followers, as those who are built to change the world, and I just think it's. I think it's a real cool win, but I think that we need to stay vigilant because the gates of hell will not come against it.
Speaker 4They will not prevail.
Speaker 2And I do. I fully believe that, even though they're going to try, it's not going to happen. As long as we stay vigilant, they have no chance. The buildings will fall, even if it's not as fast as I wanted it to be. The buildings are going to fall as long as we stay vigilant. And that's I mean it's 100%, probably not for our generation, before the next, I mean. So I'm just really encouraged by it.
Speaker 3Yeah, you know what they're going to do with that property? As fault like parking lot.
Speaker 2Absolutely.
Speaker 3For just the needed for more parking.
Speaker 2Yeah, usually that's what they do.
Speaker 3It's kind of far out from the buildings, isn't?
Speaker 2it. It is as close to the surgery center and I know our surgery center. We have nurses in there. They would come in in the morning, the rebroken beer bottles that they'd have to walk through to get into the because of that place and you know so just for context, I know you mentioned that it was a bar, but this is a gentleman's club where women are exploited and men are feeding their addiction.
Speaker 4Yes, so yeah that's why, that's why that's why the passion to see it destroyed, absolutely yeah.
Speaker 1Well, folks, I think that's probably. That's probably all we've got for this episode. I hope you enjoyed it. We certainly did. It's really wonderful, alison and Andrea, that you guys came in and came in.
